Kyiv, Ukraine — At least four people have been confirmed dead after Russia launched a massive overnight assault on Ukraine, deploying waves of drones and missiles that targeted the capital, Kyiv, and other cities.
Ukraine’s air defence said it intercepted most of the incoming weapons but confirmed that debris struck residential buildings and energy facilities, sparking fires and power cuts.
This latest escalation comes as the war enters its fourth year, with Russia intensifying long-range strikes while Ukraine appeals for more Western defence systems.
The United States and European Union condemned the attack, calling it a reminder of Russia’s “indiscriminate strategy of terror.” Moscow has not issued a formal statement, but Russian officials insist that military infrastructure remains their target.
